Modern Coffee House 105 E. Broadway Strawberry Bun Cake The stairway entrance kind of reminds me of the stairs at Wo Hop when I previously explored Chinatown. This bun cake is light and spongy. It wasn't too overpowering or sweet and it's definitely an acquired taste.
This is not much a modern coffee house as it's quite the opposite. It's old fashioned and the prices reflect it. Many of the buns are less than 2 dollars, which is amazing in 2025. The tea is fine too. The pastries are good. It's pretty no frills. I'd go again for sure if I'm around the area and see it but I don't crave baked goods too often
I think the strawberry cake and chocolate cake here are lovely, not overly sweet and very reasonably priced. You can grab a great dessert here for under $3. It's got a few tables and chairs as well to sit comfortably with a small group. It's not wheelchair accessible since you have a few stairs to use. It looked pretty clean and welcoming.
